The て Form
The て form is one of the most versatile and important verb forms in Japanese. It's used for requests, connecting actions, and many other grammatical patterns.

Making Requests: 〜てください
Add ください to the て form to make a polite request.

Ongoing Actions: 〜ています
Add います to the て form to express actions currently in progress (like English "-ing").

States Resulting from Actions
〜ています can also describe a state that results from an action (like "is married" or "is wearing").
Examples
田中さんは結婚しています。
Tanaka-san wa kekkon shiteimasu.
Tanaka is married.
彼女は眼鏡をかけています。
Kanojo wa megane o kaketeimasu.
She is wearing glasses.
東京に住んでいます。
Toukyou ni sundeimasu.
