The form expresses "even if" or "even though" - situations where the result is unchanged despite the condition.

Using 〜ても with Verbs

Examples
Ame ga futte mo, sakkaa o shimasu. Even if it rains, I'll play soccer.
Nando setsumei shite mo, wakarimasen. No matter how many times I explain, they don't understand.
Takusan tabete mo, futorimasen. Even if I eat a lot, I don't gain weight.

〜ても with Adjectives

Type Formation Example
い-adj 〜くても 高い → 高くても (even if expensive)
な-adj 〜でも 静か → 静かでも (even if quiet)
Noun 〜でも 雨 → 雨でも (even if rain)
Examples
Takakute mo, kaitai desu. Even if it's expensive, I want to buy it.
Benri demo, tsukaimasen. Even if it's convenient, I won't use it.
Nichiyoubi demo, shigoto ga arimasu. Even on Sunday, I have work.

Question Words + ても

Combining question words with ても creates "no matter who/what/when/where" expressions:

Examples
Nani o tabete mo, oishii desu. No matter what I eat, it's delicious.
Itsu itte mo, kondeimasu. No matter when I go, it's crowded.
Dare ni kiite mo, shirimasen. No matter who I ask, they don't know.
